We're Team Russo.Ĭaptain America: Civil War is out on April 29 in the UK and May 6 in the US. It's not about Team Cap or Team Iron Man. The Russos have made an intelligent drama which also happens to be a funny, thrilling, cool superhero movie and it's upped the game for all comic book movies to come. Civil War in the comics is on the grandest scale, and this big battle seemed like 5v5 in the church parking lot compared to a real war. It's current and it's politically discursive, talking about big issues as well as personal torments. To me, the story, including having Bucky be the one who killed Tony’s parents, was great. If he was ever accused of being boring for his Boy Scout-ish tendencies then no more, for the first time Steve Rogers is given a truly satisfying arc - flaws, vulnerabilities and all.Ĭivil War is complex. Chris Evans may have put down Captain Americas shield but hes got a new badge of honor: hes been named People magazine. But this is still a Captain America movie. The fights are epic (and far cleaner than Age Of Ultron's messy scraps), and the team all get their moments to shine.
